Learn how campus leaders in the Phoenix Union High School District have worked to develop key partnerships, build capacity, and provide essential training opportunities for teachers as they build authentic SEL experiences in the classroom.

About Our Host
Karleen is the Education Consultant for Boxlight. Serving as our education expert and product specialist, she provides in-depth product demonstrations. Karleen is an experienced educator, coach, trainer, professional development leader, and presenter. She holds her Masters and Education Specialist degrees in Instructional Technology, Media & Design as well as certifications in Special Education, Math, Instructional Technology, and endorsements for Reading and Online Teaching.

Professional Development Specialist, Cesar Chavez HS

Bernadette Moreno is a Phoenix Union High School District alumna from South Mountain High School. She has been teaching in the Phoenix Union High School District for more than 22 years. Her focus as the professional development specialist is to deliver tailored professional development to all staff while supporting campus-wide AVID strategies (WICOR). Bernadette strives to build a sense of community through fellowship and creating opportunities for collaboration.

Professional Development Specialist, North HS

Sarah Pastula grew up in Peoria and earned her bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and History from Ottawa University and master's in US History from Pace University. This is her 11th year in public education and first year serving as a Professional Development Specialist at North High School in the Phoenix Union High School District.

MICHELLE TRUSH 
Professional Development Specialist, Central HS

Michelle Trush is currently a Professional Development Specialist in the Phoenix Union High School District. In her 24 years in education, Michelle has served as a mentor for student teachers and the department chair for science. Michelle specializes in increasing teachers’ knowledge of literacy strategies across all content areas specifically for English language learners.

KRISTA WALKER 
Innovation and Development Director EOS Education 

Krista Walker is the Innovation and Development Director for Boxlight-EOS Education, Krista is an educator with 25 years of experience. She is also a community and education advocate, program development manager, and curriculum author. Her other roles have included Adapted Recreation Coordinator, providing 21st century enrichment and academic programming for individuals with developmental disabilities; National Director of School Programs and Professional Development for Social and Emotional Learning in K-8 schools; Community Engagement Coordinator, and Consultant on grants and inclusive practices for state agencies and non-profits.
